Hereward College kicks off the Learning Week 2013
From 11 to 15 February 2013 Hereward's regular timetable will be replaced with a lively mix of creative and experiential learning events taking place across the whole College.
The change is to celebrate Hereward College's Learning Week 2013, which will offer students and staff the opportunity to get inspired by new ideas. Staff and especially students will get the chance to branch out, meet new people and learn and develop new skills.
Hereward College is extremely keen for everyone to participate fully during the week. Students and staff have planned a varied programme of fun and interactive activities. These include student-led projects, film screenings and discussions, photographic displays, demonstrations and presentations, Q&A sessions, quizzes and competitions, seminars and technical workshops.
In an increasingly competitive job market, and in a climate where extracurricular activities are valued in CVs, Innovative Learning Week provides an opportunity for students to participate in events that are experimental, innovative and fun but which also enhance skills which are relevant to employability.
To make the week-long event even more interesting, Sheila Fleming, the College's principal is looking forward to spending time with students and staff in sharing stories and memories from the Paralympics, which of course enabled so many people to learn more about what people with disabilities can achieve.
Sheila said: "The Learning Week is a great opportunity for the whole College community to enjoy learning. It's an important part of our commitment to develop and improve all that we do, so that students have the best possible learning experience with us and become more confident and independent so they can achieve their goals and ambitions."
The Learning Week is part of the College's on-going commitment to delivering quality teaching and supporting students to become independent. The College also plans to use the week to help build a College-wide community through the participation of all its members.
